The front opening is the access point for both your cat and your storage — we designed it so reaching in to retrieve items doesn't disturb a sleeping cat in the back.

Q: How do I clean the inside?

A: The interior is finished with the same natural wood wax oil as the exterior — wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, the front opening provides full access. We recommend a light re-application of natural wood oil to the interior every 6–12 months to maintain the finish.

Q: Why does it take 2 weeks?

A: Because we don't build until you order. We select the beechwood planks after your purchase — reading the grain, checking for consistency across all panels so the finger joints align cleanly on every corner. The Hideaway has more surface area than any other ZenPaw piece, which means the wood selection matters more. The two weeks are where the craftsmanship happens.

Q: Will the wood change over time?

A: Yes — beechwood develops a warm, deeper patina over years of use. The finger joints become more visually defined as the wood ages, making the craftsmanship more visible over time, not less. Apply natural wood oil once or twice a year to maintain the surface.
